WeylChem Invests in Multi-purpose Plant Upgrade
10th February 2020
WeylChem plans to upgrade a multi-purpose plant at its Allessa site in Frankfurt, Germany. The company puts the investment sum in the range of high single-digit million euro range.
CEO Uwe Brunk said the upgrade to be completed in the second half of 2021 will keep the halogen exchange (HALEX) technology in Weylchem’s portfolio and fulfill the request of a large number of customers to have it available in Europe.
Brunk said that the investment decision is “a logical step in advancing the ongoing strategic repositioning of the group.” “After successful restructure of the marketing and sales organization under WeylChem International, it is now the optimum time to continue optimizing the product and technology portfolio,” he added.
The company said the upgrade in Frankfurt will add capacity and advanced flexibility. It will also reduce time to market as well as production costs by using existing equipment from an older plant. Thanks to the employment of the latest modern technologies, management believes the facility will have competitive production costs, even by international comparison.
